State lawmakers are scheduled to vote Friday on a controversial wildfire bill. Senate Bill 901 is the product of intense negotiation and lobbying because of provisions that opponents call a “bail-out in sheep’s clothing” for PG&E. Groups like The Utility Reform Network, AARP California, and the California Manufacturing and Technology Association say the measure could leave utility customers on the hook for billions of dollars in damages from the deadly 2017 wildfires.
