SFPD Hit With Lawsuits by Family of Luis Gongora Pat, Jasmine Abuslin

On the 6th Anniversary of the killing of Luis Gongora Pat in the Mission District of San Francisco, his family filed a federal civil lawsuit against the San Francisco Police Department. Gongora was a Mayan immigrant father of three, living in an encampment in the Mission when killed by SFPD last April. Supporters with the Justice and Honor for Luis Gongora Pat Coalition are calling for a jury trial for the three officers responsible to be held accountable, and for accelerated reforms of the Police Department. The news comes one day after lawyers for Jasmine Abuslin - formerly known as Celeste Guap - filed a $18 million lawsuit against the City of San Francisco for damages for the victim of statutory rape and sex trafficking.
