Lawmakers Debate Drug Costs, Single Payor Healthcare

State lawmakers are looking at what is driving up the cost of prescription drugs, and what can the legislature do about it. The Assembly Health Committee held a hearing on the issue, days before voters face a ballot measure on how the state pays for its drug purchases. The discussion dived into the minutia of the drug supply chain, and also delved into the relative merits of a Canadian or European style single payor health care system.
