Bay Area supporters of Marissa Alexander--the African American mother of three, who was initially sentenced to 20 years in prison for firing a warning shot to stop her husband from abusing her--have returned from their cross-country trip, aimed at publicizing the case. On January 27, Alexander was released on probation after serving nearly three years in prison, but she will remain under home detention for the next two years. Since the January 27th hearing, Alexander’s supporters have been campaigning for a full pardon, and hope their efforts will have implications far beyond Alexander’s home state of Florida. KPFA's Andrew Klein has more.
