State lawmakers are looking at the affects of increasing crude oil shipments by railroad across California. The North American oil boom has led to a jump in the number of crude oil shipments by railroads through cities, water-ways and sensitive ecological areas, as the nation has seen a jump in crude by rail shipments and a growing number of spills, explosions and other accidents involving train shipments of crude oil from the Bakken oil fields of North Dakota.
