Kings County farmer Andy Vidak appears to have won the special election to represent California’s 16th Senate District. With all precincts reporting, Vidak leads Democrat Leticia Perez by 56 to 42 percent, a margin nearly 6000 votes. But Vidak has not declared victory yet, as there are still over 9000 absentee and provisional ballots yet to be counted. The election was held to replace Democrat Michael Rubio, who quit the legislature to work for the Chevron Oil Company. Vic Bedoian reports from Fresno.
