Domestic Abuse Victims and Immigrant Rights Activists Protest "Secure Communities" Program at SF City Hall
Domestic violence survivors and immigrant rights activists rallied on the steps of San Francisco City Hall today. They were calling for an end to Secure Communities, or S-Comm, a federal deportation program that activists say discourages undocumented domestic abuse victims from filing charges for fear of being deported and separated from their families.
Later, activists delivered public comment as Supervisor John Avalos introduced an ordinance to end San Francisco county from handing over undocumented individuals to immigrations and customs enforcement.
