L.A. County Weighs Plans For $1.5 Billion Jail Overhaul, Activists Call For Alternatives

Prisoners' advocates packed the board room of the L.A. County Board of Supervisors today to voice their opposition to all plans being considered in a one and a half billion dollar overhaul. Wearing orange shirts that read "No Jails," they called on the board to prioritize community-based mental health services as an alternative to incarceration.
