Residents of Bay Delta communities were outraged this week when Cal Trans removed yard signs protesting Governor Jerry Brown’s plan to build twin tunnels to divert water around the Delta. Placards saying “Save the Delta, Stop the Tunnels” have been increasingly displayed along State Highway 160 which threads through the Delta to Sacramento. Cal Trans says they were just doing routine maintenance and took the signs down because they were too close to the roadway. Today, Delta advocates held a press conference in Sacramento to express their ire. Vic Bedoian reports from Fresno.
