Advocates Want Racial Equity in Budget

California is already a “majority minority” state, with no single racial or ethnic group making up a majority of the state population. As the state’s Latino and Asian Pacific Islander populations grow, some advocates are calling for changes in the way the state decides on budget priorities. That’s the message of a new report by the Greenlining Institute. The report urges policymakers to look at the state budget from the perspective of racial and ethnic equity.
