State officials have announced that 65 of the 70 state parks slated for closure this weekend will temporarily stay open.
Governor Jerry Brown allocated $10 million to keep the parks open despite vetoing a funding bill that would have given the agency $41 million this fiscal year.
The California Department of Parks and Recreation has proposed revenue generating ideas to prevent the closure of what it calls the Magnificent 70.
