ACLU Caravan Protests Harsh Arizona Law Set For Supreme Court Hearing

The U.S. Supreme Court is set to hear final arguments in what is being called one of the most important and divisive laws facing the nation:Arizona’s SB1070. Former Arizona State Senator Russell Pearce who sponsored the legislation two years ago, will testify in defense of the law’s legality, which was signed by Governor Jan Brewer in April, 2010. Immigrant and human rights attorneys are also travelling to Washington DC. They’ll be arguing that the law will set a precedent and lead to widespread racial profiling. In response, the American Civil Liberties Union of Southern California has launched the ESTAMOS UNIDOS campaign to fight what it calls discriminatory laws. Ernesto Arce was at the Los Angeles stop on the nationwide tour. He files this report from Los Angeles.
