Los Angeles City Council Passes Truancy Ticket Change

The Los Angeles City Council has taken the first step toward lowering truancy ticket fines. The Council voted unanimously to have the City Attorney draft an ordinance lowering the fine for a third offense from $250 to $20. Community groups and civil liberties advocates packed the council chambers in support of the change. Pacifica's Dan Fritz files this report.
