Los Angeles "Washeros" Win Historic Union Contracts

Workers at two Southern California carwashes won their first union contracts with their employers today. The announcement of the labor deal with Vermont Carwash in Silverlake and Nava’s Carwash in South Los Angeles comes just a few months after the nation’s first car wash union in nearby Santa Monica. The workers say it’s the result of a four-year struggle to win better working conditions for the region’s estimated 10,000 car wash employees. Pacifica’s Ernesto Arce reports from Los Angeles.
