Governor Jerry Brown delivered his annual State of the State address to the state Assembly and Senate, throwing down the gauntlet in what could become a new era of fights against a Donald Trump administration. Brown is vowing to protect California’s progressive legacy on issues including immigrant rights, climate change and health care. Brown’s speech included a recitation from the song-book of leftist song-writer and cultural icon Woody Guthrie.
