Richmond Resident and Business Owner Faces Eviction, Possibly Out of Political Retribution

A popular restaurant on the waterfront of the East Bay city of Richmond faces closure next month. The owner and operator of Salute e Vita Ristorante, Menbere 'Menbe' Aklilu faces eviction for what her landlord claims are health code violations. But there's a catch: the building's owner is Jacqueline Poe, the mother of Florida developer Richard Poe, who lost a high-profile and contentious battle with the city of Richmond to turn his waterfront property into a multimillion dollar development of high-priced single family homes and friends of the restaurant smell political retribution.
