SF Voters Will Decide Whether to Ban Homeless Encampments

San Francisco voters will decide whether the City will ban homeless encampments and allow police officers to remove them within 24 hours. Supervisor Mark Farrell put forth the ballot measure Tuesday, citing concerns over public health and safety. The initiative would make it illegal to "place an encampment on a public sidewalk." Critics say this is a short-sighted solution, as no additional shelter construction or temporary housing has been proposed.
