Some Democratic lawmakers are introducing legislation that would let Californians with terminal illness get prescriptions to end their lives. The bill is modeled after Oregon’s “Death with Dignity” law. The bill comes amid growing awareness of the issue after last year’s death of Brittany Maynard, a California woman with brain cancer who moved to Oregon to end her life under that state’s law.
