The Alameda County Sheriff’s Department has bought a pair of airborne drones, a year after being rebuffed in an earlier attempt to buy drones with federal grant money and county funds. Activists say the Sheriff sidestepped community concerns and bought the drones in secret, raising questions about how they will be used. Christopher Martinez reports.
