Covered California Health Reform Marks First Anniversary

California’s health care expansion under the federal Affordable Care Act is marking its 1st anniversary, touting enrollment numbers that have cut in half the number of uninsured Californians. But as the state’s new health programs enter their second year, reaching the remaining Californians without health insurance will be more difficult. Among the obstacles is the federal exclusion of undocumented immigrants from eligibility under the health reforms. Christopher Martinez reports.
