Laura's Law Could Allow Forced Mental Health Treatment in San Francisco

San Francisco supervisors have approved a controversial measure that could force some people with mental illness into court-ordered treatment. California created “Laura’s Law” in 2001, letting counties adopt ordinances to provide for court-ordered “assisted out-patient treatment” for some people who refuse treatment. San Francisco is now poised to become the third county to implement Laura’s Law. Christopher Martinez reports from San Francisco.
