Homecare Workers Protest Proposed Hours Cap
Governor Jerry Brown wants to prevent state funded homecare workers from working overtime. The proposal has stoked fierce opposition. Over one thousand homecare providers and their relatives rallied at the state capital today to protest the proposed cap on the In-Home Supportive Services – or IHSS – program. The taxpayer-funded program provides in-home care services to low-income seniors and people with disabilities. The proposed cap comes after the Obama Administration mandated the extension of overtime protections for homecare workers beginning next year. Pacifica’s Nick St. Charles filed this report from Sacramento.
