Crude Oil Shipped by Rail Draws Legislative Action

An Assembly committee has approved a measure to protect California’s communities and waterways from dangers posed by crude oil shipments by railroad. The State Senate has approved a separate measure calling for more federal safeguards. The actions come as more and more oil is being shipped into California by railroad instead of by tanker ships, bringing more risks of inland oil spills and fires.
