New Oil Tax Campaign Will Pressure State Lawmakers Next Year

Billionaire investor and clean energy advocate Tom Steyer has announced he’ll launch a campaign next year to push for a tax on oil drilling in California. The San Francisco hedge fund founder put 27 million dollars into last year’s Prop 39 corporate tax initiative. His backing of an oil severance tax could re-energize California’s decades long attempts to tax oil drilling. Christopher Martinez reports.
