Community groups picketed this morning outside the downtown L.A. office of vehicle manufacturer Build Your Dreams, or BYD. The groups called on public agencies to sever ties with BYD after it came to light that the company violated minimum wage labor laws, paying some workers as little as $1.50 per hour. Earlier this month, state officials fined BYD $100,000 for wage violations. Pacifica's Dan Fritz was at the demonstration this morning and filed this report.
