About half of the workers hired by Contra Costa County to run a
new call center aimed at helping residents sign up for health care
will only be hired part-time, and will not receive employer paid
health insurance. That’s according to the union which represents the
workers.
SEIU Local 1021 says it’s pressing county officials to explain a miscommunication that led many part-time hires to falsely believe they would have forty-hour-a-week employment, and the health care benefits that come with it.
