In the case that a new contract is not agreed upon between Bay Area Rapid Transit and their unions by the 30th, BART has requested Governor Jerry Brown not to order a 60 day cooling off period.
This announcement comes on the heels of a nearly unanimous vote by the unions to authorize a strike if necessary. BART requested, and the unions agree, that citizens will be notified 72 hours in advance of a strike.
