Long time social and civil rights activist, Maudelle Shirek passed away Thursday night in Hospice in Vallejo, at the age of 101. A former Berkeley City Council member and Vice Mayor, Shirek was well known in the community as a tireless activist and a mover and shaker even at her late age.
