A measure to let undocumented immigrants get California driver’s licenses won approval in an Assembly committee Monday. Democratic Assemblyman Luis Alejo of Salinas is continuing a decade-long effort begun by termed-out lawmaker Gil Cedillo, in the hopes of improving road safety and protecting undocumented immigrants from harsh sanctions.
