In the wake of the passing of the Affordable Care Act, healthcare workers in California are faced with a flood of new enrollees to Medi-Cal. At the same time, Medi-Cal providers are dealing with major cuts in state funding for their services.
The cuts were approved by the legislature in 2011 to help resolve the budget deficit. But healthcare workers rallying outside of the state capitol say now that the state has a budget surplus, lawmakers should roll back the 10 percent cut to Medi-Cal rates for providers.
