Legislation Prods Action on Clean Water

Legislation aimed at helping small, disadvantaged towns to build clean water systems will be considered by the State legislature in the current session. Two bills in the Assembly, sponsored by Fresno Democrat Henry T. Perea, would let communities band together to fund water projects, while another bill would move the State’s oversight of drinking water programs from the Department of Public Health to the State Water Board.
