Ethnic Voters Are Shaping California Politics

Latino, African American and Asian American voters play a key role in hotly contested ballot fights over taxes and the death penalty, according to a study of California voters by the Field Poll. The rise in ethnic and racial minority voters accounts for almost all of Barack Obama’s lead in California, part of a trend that made California a blue state, and could affect voting here for years to come.
