Women’s groups held protests in support of low-income mothers at Republican Party offices across the country today. Rallies were held in 12 cities on the eve of the next U.S. presidential debate. Organizers say neither of the leading candidates has mentioned specific plans to help struggling mothers. Activists want to know what both men will do to alleviate poverty among low-income mothers and their children. They’re calling on the candidates to make resources available so that these women are given the same options as wealthy mothers. Pacifica’s Ernesto Arce was at the Global Women’s Strike rally outside of the California GOP headquarters in Burbank. He files this report from Los Angeles.
