The symbolic home of Occupy San Fernando Valley in Los Angeles County is in imminent danger of being foreclosed. The Hernandez family of Van Nuys has been fighting the banks since 2008 to hold on to their longtime residence after their mortgage payments ballooned. They received a final eviction order last month but say they will fight it since the bank refused to negotiate with them. Now, the LA County Department of Child and Family Services is involved. The agency says it received a complaint that a four year-old child lives in the residence without access to electricity or running water. Pacifica KPFK’s Ernesto Arce files this report from Los Angeles.
