The San Francisco Ethics commission has voted 4 to 1 to uphold official misconduct charges against suspended Sheriff Ross Mirkarimi, but it delayed a vote on its final recommendations to the Board of Supervisors on whether to remove him from office. Mayor Ed Lee had suspended Mirkarimi without pay, saying his misdemeanor conviction for a domestic violence incident amounts to official misconduct. The Commission has heard testimony about allegations Mirkarimi tried to dissuade witnesses, along with other allegations about how Mirkarimi acted after a December 31 domestic violence incident that left Mirkarimi’s wife Iliana Lopez with a bruised arm. Christopher Martinez reports from San Francisco.
