Anaheim Rejects Referendum on Districting

The Anaheim City Council rejected a districting proposal that supporters say would have resulted in fair representation for Latinos and other groups in the city. A community coalition said a districting system would have resulted in a more diverse city council with the ability to address resident’s concerns. During yesterday’s special city council meeting, dozens of people spoke out against what they claim is police hostility towards Latino, Muslim and low-income neighborhoods.
Pacifica KPFK’s Ernesto Arce was there. He files this report from Anaheim.
