Transit Commission Debates Free S.F. Bus Passes for Youth

Low-income youth deserve free public transportation on the San Francisco Muni system. That was the message of dozens of youth and community activists who gathered at the Metropolitan Transportation Commission meeting in San Francisco. They urged a committee of the M.T.C. to recommend a pilot program that would give San Francisco youth free passes. The committee failed to agree on a plan, leaving the decision to the full commission where a vote is expected later this month. Sally Schilling reports.
