Berkeley City Council Approves Ban on Sidewalk Sitting for November Ballot

The Berkeley City Council has voted to put a measure on the November ballot that would ban sitting on the sidewalk in commercial districts from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. The vote on the proposal by Mayor Tom Bates came after a raucous meeting that ended at around one in the morning.
