LA Police Commission At Odds With Chief Over Discipline

The Los Angeles Police Commission is once again at odds with Police Chief Charlie Beck over officer’s use of lethal force. Since 2009 when Beck took over LAPD, the Commission has disagreed on five occasions with his decision not to discipline the officer involved in use of force cases. The civilian oversight group says Beck is ignoring their conclusions that the officers made serious, often deadly, mistakes. It says the lack of punishment may be sending a dangerous message to the LAPD's rank-and-file officers that the consequences for a lethal mistake are minimal.Ernesto Arce reports.
