An attorney for hundreds of California inmates held in solitary confinement for years has petitioned the United Nations to intervene to stop the practice. The petition asks the U.N. to investigate what inmates and their supporters call inhumane and tortuous conditions in so-called security housing units, or "SHUs". Ernesto Arce reports.
