Good Jobs L.A. Forum Supports LAX Workers

Several hundred airport workers and their allies gathered at a Los Angeles church last night for a forum to demand better work conditions at one of the region’s largest employers. Good Jobs L.A., the event organizer, says many of Los Angeles International Airport’s 59,000 workers earn low wages and can’t afford healthcare. The majority are African-American and Latino immigrant. Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa and other elected officials promised to sponsor hearings to improve work conditions at LAX. Pacifica’s Ernesto Arce was at the Hawthorne United Methodist Church for the Good Jobs L.A. town hall. He files this report from Los Angeles.
