Backers Abandon Pension Ballot Initiative

The debate over pension reform could be heading in a new direction in Sacramento. The group "California Pension Reform" has shut down its initiative effort. After facing fund-raising difficulties and what it calls a hostile summary from the Secretary of State. That could also be a blow to Governor Jerry Brown's pension proposals. But some advocates say it creates room for a broader debate and more progressive approaches to state worker pensions. Christopher Martinez reports.
