Grocery Workers Ratify Contract

Members of the United Food and Commercial Workers union ratified a new
contract over the weekend with three grocery chains which prevents
62,000 workers from going on strike.
UFCW President Rick Icaza says the deal protects grocery workers’
healthcare and provides for a modest increase in wages. It also
averted a potentially devastating blow to workers and to Southern
California’s economy. Ernesto Arce files this report from Los Angeles.
