State Senate Leader Hopes for More Education Funding

Democratic State Senate leader Darrell Steinberg closed a weeklong California Teachers Association conference at UCLA. Steinberg criticized standardized tests and defended a contentious teacher layoff moratorium included in this year’s budget. The 35,000-member CTA union says it’s prepared to fight Sacramento lawmakers in order to secure a budget that prioritizes education. Pacifica’s Ernesto Arce files this report from Los Angeles.
