Tensions continue to escalate over the beating death of a homeless, mentally disabled man in Fullerton. 37 year-old Kelly Thomas died on July 10, just five days after he was brutally beaten by six Fullerton police officers. Family and friends say he had a long history of battling schizophrenia but was a warm and caring drifter. Many residents say they were outraged after viewing pictures of Thomas’ swollen and disfigured face. They have started weekly vigils, protests outside of the police department and even recall efforts. Pacifica’s Ernesto Arce has more from Southern California.
