Fullerton Outcry Over Police Beating Death of Homeless Man

Public outrage over last month’s police beating death of a homeless Fullerton man with schizophrenia spilled over into a city council meeting last night. Fullerton Mayor F. Richard Jones promised a full investigation into the July 5 incident but many residents say it’s clear that police used excessive force in the beating which led to 37 year-old Kelly Thomas’ death. Public comments lasted for more than four hours with most residents demanding that Police Chief Michael Sellers resign or be fired.Pacifica’s Ernesto Arce was in Fullerton for the City Council meeting. He files this report from Orange County.
