Your eyes weren't deceiving you if you thought you saw formaldehyde descend from a limousine in Hollywood. A group of actors portraying chemicals such as lead, mercury and BPA congregated at the Egyptian Theater for the second annual ‘Toxie Awards.’
Organized by Physicians for Social Responsibility and Californians for a Healthy and Green Economy, ‘The Toxies’ are a satirical awards ceremony that condemns what these organizations call ‘bad actor chemicals.’ Handing out awards with names like Worst Hair-Raising Performance and Lifetime Achievement in Harm, The Toxies sought to entertain and educate attendees on the subject of chemical toxicity.
