Inmates at the Pelican Bay State Prison in far northern california plan to go on a hunger strike. The hunger strike begins tomorrow to protest inhumane conditions and torture at Pelican Bay's security housing unit, known as the SHU. A coalition of supporters and prisoner-rights activist organizations gathered today in front of the State of California office building in Oakland to announce the prisoner demands.
