While lawmakers in Sacramento were wrestling over the budget deal, community groups in Southern California held a protest to urge state Republicans to compromise. The groups called for Republicans to support Governor Jerry Brown's plan to let Californians vote on tax extensions, and called on Democrats not to accept a spending cap for the deal.
