Temecula City Council Approves Mosque After Eight Hour Hearing

A Southern California city voted early this morning to allow the construction of a mosque following a heated 8-hour debate. Approval for the Islamic Center of Temecula Valley was given a little after 3:30 this morning despite protests from some residents over traffic congestion and what one person said were terrorist activities.
Arab and Muslim-American groups say the numerous public comments slamming Islam prove that much work remains to be done to confront intolerance.
